Lipitor is prescribed to patients to lower their cholesterol and specific fatty substances in their blood.
The effect of Lipitor reduces the build up of cholesterol and fats in arteries that could potentially slow blood flow, which reduces oxygen supply to the brain, heart and other areas of the human body.
By reducing the levels of cholesterol and fats in the blood the chances of heart disease, strokes, and heart attacks are thought to be reduced.
Lipitor medicine is used to treat abnormally high cholesterol levels (LDL cholesterols – considered harmful).
If Lipitor is taken in conjunction with a fat reduction diet, and it generally is, it can effectively reduce the levels of harmful cholesterol and other specific fatty substances is the body.
Lipitor has also shown to increase levels of cholesterol which are considered good (HDL cholesterols – considered beneficial).
